This is an illustration, not a case study. The numbers are examples so you can replace them with your own.
The sum
Say a new private patient is worth £400 in their first year. For implants or orthodontics, it is far more.
If a broken form or a slow page loses three enquiries a month, that is:
- £400 x 3 = £1,200 a month
- £1,200 x 12 = £14,400 a year
That is before counting any referrals those patients would have sent.
Why nobody notices
A lost enquiry is invisible. There is no cancelled booking and no complaint. The visitor never arrives, so nothing appears in a spreadsheet.
Where enquiries usually leak
- A form that fails quietly after a plugin update
- A notification email that goes to spam or to someone who has left
- A Book Now button that opens a contact form
- A slow page on mobile
- No clear confirmation after the patient submits
- No tap to call number for urgent cases
Run your own numbers
- Work out what a new private patient is worth in their first year.
- Estimate how many enquiries you might lose in a month. If you do not know, test your form and booking path and see.
- Multiply by twelve.
For most practices, fixing the leaks costs less than a month or two of the loss.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know if my website is losing enquiries?
Test your form from a phone, check where the notifications go, and compare the number of enquiries to your website visits over several months. A sudden drop after a website change is a warning sign.
Is £400 a realistic value for a new patient?
It is an example. Use your own average first year value, and consider treatments such as implants or orthodontics separately.
Can Bit Aura help find the leaks?
Yes. Send your website address through the contact page and we will do a free 10 minute website audit.
